For some unknown reason, I keep allowing LEGO sets into my house. My two oldest children are almost-8 and nearly-6, and have gotten interested in the whole building aspect of toys. Unfortunately, that usually means that Mommy or Daddy gets to assemble it the first time, before it's taken apart and scattered all over the house for Mommy to step on in bare feet. My mother, not wanting to leave four-year-old Bug out of the picture, got him the LEGO Star Wars Clone Troopers Battle Pack (#7655). ::: Clones, or Nearly Clones ::: Call me crazy, but I seem to recall that the main thing about the clone army in the Star Wars movies was that the clone troopers were just that: clones. This 58-piece set builds four clone troopers, two that are the traditional black and white, but the other two have prominent red accents and yellow accents respectively. Each clone trooper is assigned a weapon by LEGO (three are identical, with one longer blaster), and one is randomly assigned some type of shield. There are also two smallish "vehicles" included: a single-man sort of hover craft, and what looks like a two-man armed bike. ::: Assembly ::: For once, assembly of a LEGO set went as well or better than predicted. The recommended ages for the LEGO Star Wars Clone Troopers Battle Pack are 6 to 12, and my nearly-6-year-old was able to help his four-year-old brother assemble all the clone troopers with no adult help whatsoever. It's about time! ::: Play Value ::: If you don't have any other Star Wars sets, then the LEGO Star Wars Clone Troopers Battle Pack probably won't be much of a hit. There are only four clone troopers with two little vehicles that can't even hold all of them, and they can't do very much once they are assembled. However, if you have other sets, or even other Star Wars toys, these guys are a great addition to add onto ships or for re-enacting battles; the boys have been having a great time staging the scene from Episode IV by having the clone troopers stand in as storm troopers and "shoot" at the Millennium Falcon. If you have a Star Wars fan with several ships, go right on ahead and grab several packs. You can start your own clone army.Recommended:Yes Amount Paid (US$): giftType of Toy: Model Kits Age Range of Child: 6 to 8 Years
